Research Associate – Korea Market (Singapore-based)

Role Overview:

The successful candidate will fit within Preqin’s research team and take on a role primarily focused on building relationships with, researching and updating information on APAC (focusing on Korea and excluding Greater China and Japan)-based investors with the goal of obtaining proprietary data that cannot be obtained from any third-party source. This data includes investors’ sentiments on alternatives market, future investment plans, and other data points useful to fund managers, service providers, or other investors in the alternatives space. Daily duties include understanding and incorporating data regarding alternative investments through various sources into our online CRM database in an accurate and concise manner. Communicating and maintaining relationships with investors regularly to encourage them to provide us information will be necessary. The successful candidate is responsible for the maintenance and growth of Preqin’s Korea Investor dataset and will have the opportunity to contribute towards the production of Preqin’s leading financial publications when required. Additionally, the researcher has opportunities to conduct in depth analyses of the data set to infer trends and partner with Research Insights to contribute to blogs and other forms of content accessible to customers of Preqin. Full training relevant to the role will be provided. 

Roles and Responsibilities: 
 

• Updating online databases with key financial information, statistics and analysis on which our clients depend on. 
• Maintaining relationships with investors via telephone and email communication. 
• Conducting web-based research for further information of investors. 
• Communicating and coordinating with the wider team to ensure profiles are updated accurately and in a timely manner
• Using computer-based business applications, including Microsoft Excel, to analyse large data sets and to control for quality and accuracy.
• Candidates may be required to write blogs and research reports, perform analysis and generate reports for clients on an ad-hoc basis.
• Ensuring that Preqin’s Korea Investor data is of high quality, meets client expectations, and is world class in terms of breadth and depth.
• To act as the expert for Korea Investor data, answering questions about data collection and seen as a subject matter expert. 
• Promoting cross-team collaborations in growing Preqin’s presence in the Korean market. 
• Completing other tasks as/when required.

Key Requirements for this Role: 
 

• Bachelor’s Degree holder in Finance, Economics, Business preferred 
• Proficient in speaking and writing Korean to target and liaise with the Korea market and clients 
• Prior relevant experience in finance/alternative assets preferred 
• Enthusiastic and confident with an eye for detail 
• Strong communications skills necessary to build relationships with high-level executives 
• Willing to take initiatives with analytical skills 
• Growth mindset, open to improvements and constant development
