The Company:

Preqin, the alternative assets industry’s leading source of data and analysis, is currently seeking a candidate to join its research team in its Singapore office. www.preqin.com. Preqin is the leading source of data and analysis for the alternative assets industry, and provides numerous leading products and services covering private equity, private debt, hedge fund, private real estate and infrastructure, natural resources and venture capital. Preqin’s clients include fund managers, investment banks, legal firms, institutional investors, financial advisors, asset managers and placement agents.

Preqin is also a prominent supplier of bespoke data and analysis to both industry and mainstream press, regularly appearing in publications such as the Financial Times and Wall Street Journal. Preqin maintains numerous online databases, produces high level financial publications and reports, and undertakes research projects for clients. Preqin is a privately owned firm headquartered in the City of London with additional offices in New York, San Francisco, Singapore and Manila.

The Role:

The successful candidate will fit within:

Preqin’s research team, and take on a role primarily focused on researching Asia Pacific-based investors or managers and funds.

The role will primarily involve researching and inputting data into a database. It will involve understanding data through fact sheets or news stories and updating the data onto our online CRM database in an accurate and concise manner on a daily basis. Relationship building with fund managers or investors to encourage them to provide us with data or to iron out any discrepancies in the data will also be required.

Research Analysts are responsible for the maintenance of Preqin’s online databases and products, and have the opportunity to contribute towards the production of Preqin’s leading financial publications when required. They also work with Preqin’s clients in order to provide data and analysis when required upon gaining suitable experience.

Full training relevant to the role will be provided.

Key duties will include:

1. Updating online databases with key financial information, statistics and analysis on which our clients depend.
2. Maintaining contact with investors or fund managers via telephone, face-to-face meetings and email communications.
3. Conducting web-based research to find further information relating to a specific firm or fund.
4. Composing profiles for online products on a daily basis and occasionally publications using information gathered by phone calls or web-based research.
5. Working with teams in other offices in ensuring coherence and accuracy of information flow into databases
6. Using computer-based business applications, including Microsoft Excel, to analyse large data sets and to control for quality and accuracy.
7. Upon gaining suitable in-house experience, candidates may be required to perform analysis and put together small reports for client data requests on an ad-hoc basis.

Candidate’s job requirements:

1. We are interested in hearing from enthusiastic, outgoing graduates with an eye for detail, a command of written work, and the confidence and communications skills necessary to build relationships with high level executives.
2. Fluency in English as well as proficiency in another Asian language, namely Japanese, Korean or Chinese is required.
3. Education level – Bachelors’ Degree.
4. Candidates of all backgrounds will be considered with no specific degree subject or experience of finance necessary.
5. Singaporean with proficient Korean language or Korean with PR preferred.
