NUS Business School professors (Chi-Nien Chung and Heeyon Kim) are looking for a fulltime research assistant for the upcoming academic year (August 2015 to July 2016). The research assistant will be working on a research project with the professors on the topic of the globalization of Korean pop culture. More specifically, the research project explores how the cultural industry in Korea developed focusing on three aspects of the cultural industry – Korean music, TV drama and movies. The project also explores the spillover effects of the “Korean wave” into other sectors such as tourism and related products.

The job of the research assistant will include (but not limited to):

1. Collecting information on the take-off of the Korean pop culture and chronicling the major events to form a timeline

2. Collecting data on Korean music, drama, and movie exports in various countries

3. Assisting the professors on analyzing the data using statistical software (e.g., STATA)

Job Requirement:

1. An undergraduate degree preferably majoring in Business (other majors can also be considered).

2. Need to be fluent in both Korean and English.

Compensation: approximately S$3,400/month (duration and compensation are negotiable)
