The Ministry of Manpower in Singapore has kind of relax its rules in their effort to attract more foreign students into our labour force. The Ministry has categorized the 3 types of Employment 1. Foreign Students on Vacation ---------------------------- a. Must be 14 years of age or above b. On vacation and c. A full-time matriculated or registered student in one of the following schools or institutions 1. National University of Singapore 2. Nanyang Technological University 3. Singapore Management University 4. INSEAD Singapore 5. University of Chicago Graduate School of Business in Singapore 6. Singapore/Ngee Ann/ Nanyang/ Temasek and Republic Polytechnic 7. LaSalle-Sia College of the Arts 8. Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts 9. Institute of Technical Education, Singapore 10 Government Secondary Schools 11.Government-Aided Secondary Schools 12 The American College 13 Australian International Schools 14 International Community Schools 15 Canadian International School 16 Lycee Francais De Singapour 17 Chatsworth International School 18 German School 19 Hollandse School 20 ISS International School 21 Overseas Family School 22 Sekolah Indonesia 23 Shibuya Makuhari Senior High School 24 Singapore American School 25 Swiss School 26 Japanese School (Secondary School) 27 United World College of South East Asia 28 Practice Performing Arts School 29 Tanglin Trust School Students Pass holders in institions other than those listed above are not allowed to work during vacation while holding Student Passes in Singspore 2. Part-time Employment of Foreign Students ---------------------------------------- A work permit is not required for a foreign student who: a. Works a maximum of 16 hours a week and b. Is a full-time matriculated or registered student in one of the institutions 1. National University of Singapore 2. Nanyang Technological University 3. Singapore Management University 4. INSEAD Singapore 5. University of Chicago Graduate School of Business in Singapore 6. Singapore/Ngee Ann/Temasek/Nanyang and Republic Politechnic 7. LaSalle-Sia College of the Arts 8. Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts 9. Practice Performing Arts School 10 Tanglin Trust School Students Pass holders studying in institutions other than those listed above are not allowed to work part-time while holding Student Passes in Singapore 3. Foreign Students Awaiting Final Examination Results ---------------------------------------------------- A foreign student who wishes to take up employment whiles waiting for his/her results or convocation ceremony must write to the Controller of Work Permit (work Pass Division) for permissiom to do so. The student must indicate the intended employment period in his/her letter of request and attach the following documents a. A letter from the Student;s school/institution stating its agreement to continue to recognise him/her as a full--time matriculate and registered student while he/she awaits for his/her results or convocation ceremony and b.
