싱가포르 정부는 핸드폰 이용자 보호 및 불공정한 핸드폰 가입 약정 문제를 해결하기 위해 아래와 같은 보호정책 적용을 검토 중이라고 발표하였습니다. 주요 보호 정책은 핸드폰 이용자에게 일정한 계약 해지 기간을 부여하거나 제공되는 서비스에 대한 안내 강화 등이며 자세한 내용은 아래와 같습니다. 해당 정책이 적용될 경우 핸드폰 이용자들이 불공정한 약정에 의해 피해를 보는 사례가 많이 줄어들 것으로 전망되고 있습니다.

1)     Set minimum standards for mobile broadband service
2)     Introduce cooling-down period during which consumers may opt out of their contracts
3)     Disclose whether service providers are blocking or slowing down mobile content or services
4)     Improve explanations so consumers can readily understand what they are signing up for
