싱가포르 정부는 2010년 1분기 경기 회복세가 좋아짐에 따라 CPF Contribution rate 적용을 현재 34.5% (Employee : 20%, Employer : 14.5%, * 영주권자의 경우 영주권 취득 연도에 따라 다른 Rate 이 적용됨) 에서 36% 까지 인상하는 방안을 검토하고 있다고 발표하였습니다. 다른 정부 부처의 의견을 검토후 5월중에 최종 결정을 내릴 예정입니다.

* CPF (Central Provident Fund) 란 ?

The Central Provident Fund (CPF) is a comprehensive social security savings plan that has provided many working Singaporeans with a sense of security and confidence in their old age.  The overall scope and benefits of CPF encompass the following:

Retirement
Healthcare
Home Ownership
Family Protection
Asset Enhancement

Working Singaporeans and their employers make monthly contributions to the CPF and these contributions go into three accounts:

Ordinary Account - the savings can be used to buy a home, pay for CPF insurance, investment and education.

Special Account - for old age, contingency purposes and investment in retirement-related financial products.

Medisave Account - the savings can be used for hospitalisation expenses and approved medical insurance.
