[SNS Safety Instructions]
This section covers the safety instructions of the SNS. Please read through this carefully before you participate in our SNS.
GEARS & EQUIPMENT
Gears & Helmets
Protective gears can prevent injuries to our joints and head. Skaters are recommended to put on wrist guards, elbow guards, knee guards and a helmet.
Lightings
Bring along blinkers, torches or any other form of illumination that can alert vehicles and road users of your presence. This is important when we are skating in dark areas or on roads.
Weather Protection
Bring along a foldable umbrella or raincoat/poncho which can come in handy if inclement weather occurs during the Nightskate.
Attire
Wear something comfortable, and preferably bright coloured, to make yourself prominent to road users.
First-aid
Bring along some basic first aid kit that can be useful to treat minor injuries, for e.g. cuts and bruises.
SAFETY GUIDELINES
- Alert other skaters when you come across obstructions or obstacles. Try to inform the nearest marshal about it.
- Brake early when going down slopes. Help other skaters.
- Crossing of roads should be at pedestrian crossings. If none is present, make sure the road is clear of traffic before crossing.
- Alert our SAVs if you need help. They can activate the Safety Vehicle.
- In case of inclement weather, look for the nearest shelter. Do not take shelter under trees.
- Try not to overtake the leader of the SNS, you might lose your way or expose yourself to hazards.
- Guage your capability if it matches the requirements for the route.
WET WEATHER
In the event of inclement weather, please do not panic. Look for the nearest shelter if possible, remove your skates and gears if necessary. Contact the person in charge for more instructions. We will try to evacuate you with our safery van.
PUNCTUALITY
Please be on time to listen to the safety and route briefing. We will set off on time.
REGISTRATION
Register with us to receive our newsletter about future SNSs and activities, and also stand to enjoy certain benefits and freebies.
SKATE ASSIST VOLUNTEERS
Our SAVs are competent skaters who volunteer as marshals and they will be on hand to help you along the way. They are able to administer basic first aid as well. If you are interested to do something useful with your skills, join us as a volunteer. For more info, contact us at admin@sav.sg.
